I wrote this song on a Sunday morning before heading to worship. The words just came to me. I sent them over to David Snyder and he came back with a rough track a couple hours later. We chose to keep this song a vocal and David on guitar.

After John Prine's death, I read an interview with his wife Fiona in Rolling Stone. Fiona talked about her last days with John holding his hand. That is my third verse and the song was written backwards building a story about a couple.
