This was a tricky one to write.. had to keep it away from the edge.. and be super clear in exactly what it was being murdered. 5 re-writes later.. and here's the demo.

Young girl moves to a valley in Tennessee and knows she's found heaven on earth

We the People is a celebration of the people who really make America tick. People who put in the long hours every day and get things done. People who put their lives on hold (and on the line) to protect their family and our freedoms.

I originally wrote this for my niece to perform at her senior recital. After that, I got together with a couple of Nashville writers and we reworked it and had this demo made.

Back in 2019, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer, and just ten days into her chemo we lost her. Over the last few months, with the pandemic taking hold, I started to pick up the guitar again and write a bit. I hadn’t seriously sat down and written or recorded a song in about 8 years until now. And, I don’t usually sit down with the intention of writing about anything specific; but this time was different. The music and the words just started to flow as I thought about how connected to my mom I was, and still am, on so many levels.
