Oh darlin
Wont you let me
In, you've locked it
All inside and
People aren't
So scary, we
Don't scratch
Or chase
Or growl
Or bite (we're not animals).
Oh darlin
Wont you speak your
Fears in whispers
I wont mind
Tell me darkness
Tell me secrets
Trade your worry
For the light.
Cause I dont wanna see
You tremble
I don't wanna see
ya scared
There's nothing out there, oh
There's nothing out there
Am/G, C, F
Oh darlin
Lies are heavy
Masquerading
Wrong from right
Truth is simple
Love feels warm and
Friends can share
The weight in life.
C/G Am, F/C Am, F
I dont wanna see
You tremble
I don't wanna see
ya scared
There's nothing out there, oh
There's nothing out there
And if ya wrestling
With those sleepless nights
Kicking blankets
In your aching mind
Close ya little tired eyes
And let go, go, go, go
Cause I dont wanna see
You tremble
I don't wanna see
ya scared
There's nothing out there, oh
There's nothing out there
Oh darlin

This song is about the repetitiveness and the sometimes droning bits of everyday life. "Artificial Light" tries to create he visual of a person (could be male or female) waking up to a life that isn't quite as real or engaging as they had hoped.

Spent a few hours yesterday recording this in the studio. Don't know how to play the drums, so I just hit a hi hat with my hand a lot. I think it came out ok, despite using the same condenser mic on everything. Give me your thoughts!

This is a second version of a song I began a few days ago. Received some feedback on the first version, and cleaned up the chorus and clarified the overall story. Same original message behind the song, just a stronger visual theme to help portray the meaning of the song.

Wrote the chorus of this first, and the verses basically reflect a one-sided dialogue between two people that were in a relationship and one of them just kind of walked out on the other. "Truth carries all, while time cures the mold." This was the first line written, from there it spun out on its own.

I wrote this song a few years ago, back when I first started getting into songwriting. It's the only song I've written about a past situation, it's about my parent's divorce when I was thirteen and still picking up pieces of the broken home.

I played a show with my friend the "Loafing Hero" in Berlin. A rugby team came in the pub, found out he was Irish, and ruined his set of originals by demanding Irish ballads. It was rough, but you gotta keep on going, and that's what this is about.
