Sort of a country bluegrass waltz combination. Co=written with Steve Nuckolls.
Glen, this is the only song I’ve heard of yours… but, immediately, I loved your voice. Honestly, I didn’t pay too much attention to the lyrics… I just listened to your voice. I know, ideally, you want people to take in your stories, but… I’d consider it a win if someone just genuinely enjoys listening to YOU. It’s got a similar feel to Samuel Beam (Iron & Wine), but it has the freedom and flexibility of Neil Young in it, too. Great storytelling voice, for sure.

Love the sentimentality of this story song. However, when you say “only one could be kept alive” it sounds like there was a choice of which one. I think it should be clear that there was no choice in the matter!

Where the Morning Glories Grow Wild by the Road
The first time I took Katie out on a date
Was to a dance on Saturday night
We waltzed around the floor for hours on end
While our hearts beat in 3/4 time
Sometimes I still hear her laughing
From those days we were sixteen years old
And I remember I tried to kiss her
Where The Morning Glories Grow Wild by the Road.
Where The Morning Glories Grow Wild by the Road.
We were living in Virginia in June of 99
Our first baby about to arrive
Then the doctor came in and said to me, son
Only one could be kept alive
Sometimes I can't stop from crying
When I see Katie's face in my dreams
Then I return to our special place
Where The Morning Glories Grow Wild by the Road.
Where The Morning Glories Grow Wild by the Road.
I can see Katie there when I look at our girl
In those eyes that sparkle and shine
And the pictures I keep at the side of my bed
Keep her memories fresh in my mind
And, sometimes I think that she's whispering
When the soft breeze blows through the pines
I promise you, love, we'll be together again
Where The Morning Glories Grow Wild by the Road.
Where The Morning Glories Grow Wild by the Road.
And, sometimes I think that she's whispering
And it sounds like she’s calling me home
So when it’s my time to go lay me down
Where The Morning Glories Grow Wild by the Road.

Nice sound and style. I was drawn in for the whole song. It certainly lends itself well to great bluegrass harmonies and an instrumentation that builds and fades. It seems like the kind of song found somewhere on a large number of country albums.
