The message of this song is "God rewards hard work." I wanted to write a song that glorified the values of hard work, prayer, and not assuming that everything will be handed to you.

Last week an old school friend sent an email out to a bunch of people we hung around with at that time. He was sorting out his old stuff from where he lived as a kid, and wanted to know if we thought he should keep any of his old toys and things. Did I keep anything of mine? I wrote this based off the note, and my reply.

Sometimes it seems that ambition overrides love. That a person becomes so obsessed with making money, they get caught up in being "successful" rather than happy. This is about wanting simpler love & letting someone know just being with them is enough

This song takes a look at some cultural stuff that we often take as a given, and maybe need to inspect more carefully. It's about looking through society's norms and seeing a very unsettling picture. It's also about being depressed in NYC.

I was at a really small rodeo one day in PA. While having a few beers and chatting with some people, I realized that everyone performing in this Rodeo had sacrificed something to get here to perform for us. This could be one of those stories.
