I had a dream I was seated center, in the middle row, of an otherwise empty school auditorium, and the Beatles were on stage performing the chorus of this song. Incredible right? I went around the next day singing the thing to everyone, thinking someone must have heard it, but ... no one had. So I knocked off the verses and bridge, and ... presto ...

After enjoying Roy Orbison's "Black and White Night" concert on TV, I imagined what it would be like to write a song that might fit within that set list. The next day this song emerged, and emerged rather easily truth be told. I couldn't find a male singer up to grade but changing the lyric to female perspective was easy, and my "go to girl" did a great job with the vocal.

Lyrics:

I’ll just leave my shoes on
Because frankly I won’t be here very long
Thought I’d stop by
To say hi
Well… Hello
Now goodbye
Oh, you want me to stay?
Then why don’t you ever act that way
Until I go to leave
Am I to believe
When you say
That you love me
Or the other times
When you say that I’m
The worst decision you’ve ever made
You play both sides
So whose right,
Jekyll or Hyde
My bags are by the front door
I even got my toothbrush out the drawer
So if you find
Something I left behind
you can throw it away
Or keep it to remind you of
The times
When you’d say that I’m
The best decision you ever made
You play both sides
So who is right
Jekyll or Hyde
But I think I left my car on
So if you want to tell me I am wrong
Go ahead
Say it again
And every time
I’ll stay instead

Because you could be
The one for me
Or the worst decision I’ve ever made
But I’ll stay tonight
To see who is right
If you find
That you change your mind
And that I’m worth having around
Please just don’t wait
Before it’s too late
Jekyll & Hyde

This is an awfully depressing song, but it’s one I produced and sang at home and I was pleased with how it turned out, except that it needs a bridge. Once I add a bridge to it (hopefully based on feedback via Frettie), I would most likely send it to a professional producer.
