A 17 year old girl who lived through the woods, one neighborhood over, recently passed away. I never knew her. I didn't know her family. I just heard things through the grapevine and read all the stories online about this beautiful soul. So, I took the information I had and tried to imagine the things her parents would like to remember, and I wrote this song.

This song is a fanciful take on the old expression, "Don't let the door hit you on your way out" (or some version of such). That of course is usually uttered when you want someone to leave. I thought I'd use the expression, "Don't let my lips hit you on your way out" as a way of saying that you hope to make someone else want to stay.
