Written 4 years ago. Heard the words "a piece of mine" & "peace of mind" on radio within 15 sec of each other. That was weird. Then, I thought "a piece of my mind" also. Thought I'd try to put all three together. More of a challenge than inspiration.

I was just having some fun and tried to make a song out of every new term people are using for single life since it is such a trend currently. I imagine a group of women in a bar, having a great time, all singing along to this at the top of their lungs.

Country, not pop
I was doing an experiment. I asked my Facebook friends if they preferred simple or more complex and detailed songs. Surprisingly, the majority of answers was for simple.
I wrote this simple song about long distance relationships. In a time of online dating with possibility of deception and of time apart, this is what I came up with.

I live on the east coast of Scotland in a city called Dundee which has a population of around 185,000. It's situated by the River Tay which is often referred to as the Silver River because of its silvery sheen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93pUXN71byE

I sat at my kitchen table after a crazy weekend of shows. Seems like I had been everyone but home for a long time, and not much to show for it. The house was empty, with my wife and 2 girls at school for the day, but there were remnants of the week I had missed. Dishes in the sink, games out on the table, and a bowl of crusty Mac n cheese. As I sat there in the quiet, reevaluating my life decisions, I started looking at our old table and wondering what it wisdom it would offer if it could talk.

We have always lived in rural areas, as a result we never had trash pickup service.
So every Saturday morning, as my song says, “I headed to the local junk yard,
I had some rusty things to discard “.
But before I left the house, my wife would always ask me, “ if you find any good, bring it home” and honestly, folks did quite often leave something of value that we could use and so, I did bring some things home.
But one Saturday morning, while at the junkyard, I got to thinkin, what if while I’m here some fella drives in and while there, he gets into an argument with his girlfriend, then he just leaves her there standing all alone. When I noticed the girl standing there I thought,
Well, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure “
And that is where the idea for my song came from.
