Written 4 years ago. Heard the words "a piece of mine" & "peace of mind" on radio within 15 sec of each other. That was weird. Then, I thought "a piece of my mind" also. Thought I'd try to put all three together. More of a challenge than inspiration.
Originally, the chorus was "the weight you carry and the cracks on your heart". But I typed it incorrectly. When I heard it this way, it was hard to change it back. Sounds better this way to me but does it make sense?

[verse 1]
You’ve been walkin’ through the fire, barely holdin’ on
Sayin’ all the right things, but I know somethin’s wrong
You don’t have to hide it, love, I see behind your eyes
Let me ease your burden with a piece of my mind
You’re worth more than the hurt they left behind
You don’t have to face this storm alone this time
[Chorus]
Let me be the calm inside your fight
The softest place to land at the end of the night
You don’t need to speak, I know every part
Of the cracks you carry and the weight on your heart
How do I heal your broken heart?
By givin’ you a piece of mine
[Verse 2]
I’ve been down them roads that twist and fray
Where peace of mind feels miles away
But love’s not always lightning...sometimes it’s slow
Like a porch light burnin’ when there’s nowhere else to go
I ain’t here to fix what’s outta line
Just to give you grace and take my time
[Chorus]
Let me be the calm inside your fight
The softest place to land at the end of the night
You don’t need to speak, I know every part
Of the cracks you carry and the weight on your heart
How do I heal your broken heart?
By givin’ you a piece of mine
[Bridge]
It ain’t about promises or plans
It’s just me right here, holdin’ your hand
If it takes forever, then forever I’ll stay
Lovin’ you back to okay
[Final Chorus]
Let me be the calm inside your fight
The softest place to land at the end of the night
You don’t need to speak, I know every part
Of the cracks you carry and the weight on your heart
How do I heal your broken heart?
By givin’ you a piece of mine
[Outro]
Yeah, by givin’ you… a piece of mine
Just a piece of mine
