I play alot at the Low Tide Tiki Bar-- and Love Peanut Butter Whiskey

I was on a third rewrite on a song that a producer insisted I make changes on. Was kind of in a funk over it and beating myself up as a songwriter. I put on a Pat Green record just to chill out and one of the songs made me say, out loud, “I wish I could write like that”.... then I did!

Shooting for the moon, I imagine this being a pitch to Luke Bryan or similar. Maybe it's too edgy, but my thought is to write for what he might release in 1-2 years, as country may go more groove and pop oriented, with more edgy lyrics.

My wife and I passed through the small town where I grew up, as we stopped to visit a longtime friend I've known since the first grade. As we drove away, I shared with my wife that I had a crush on this girl in the 2nd grade; that she was smart and really pretty. I laughed as I remembered being jealous of Elvis because she thought he was cool. As we drove away, I drew on thoughts of my wife and me visiting Panama City Beach, back before the advent of cell phones, and that it's ironic how my past lead me to her...
