This is my anthem. For many years I've been stagnant in my life. This song is about getting up and moving forward and doing what you need to do to be you and finally be free.

VERSE 1
Standing water, ankle deep and still, Oh, the struggle and the fight uphill
Half a lifetime neither here nor there, It’s a long, long time to be nowhere
It’s a long, long time to be nowhere
VERSE 2
It ain’t easy, it ain’t always planned, Something tells me that it’s in His hand
But, still I’m standing on this barren land, It’s a long, long time to be nowhere
VERSE 3
No more wasting my life on thieves, Stealing joy, I’m rolling up my sleeves
Taking stock and drawing battle plans, It’s a long, long time to be nowhere
BRIDGE
I will make my mark now, before I die, I am more than sick of believing lies
Oh, afraid or not I will fight for more, I will never stop, I will go to war
VERSE 4
Living water, shoulder deep and I’m, Moving onward, yes I am this time
Half of my life yet to live, I swear, It’s a long, long time to be nowhere
[BREAK]
BRIDGE
I will make my mark now, before I die, I am so damn sick of believing lies
Oh, afraid or not I will fight for more, I will never stop, I will go to war
VERSE 5
If we never get to say goodbye, Tell my mother that at least I died
Chasing answers to my midnight prayers, It’s a long, long time to be nowhere
It’s a long, long time to be nowhere, It’s a long, long time to be nowhere

Charlie, Nice. This truly has an anthem feel to it with the simple, low key start, which builds to a climatic end. I really liked it. I think it stands on its own and don’t have any suggestions for improvement. But I would encourage you to put your lyrics here with the music.
I love your voice, especially on the lower notes.
