An old demo... song is from the POV of a military family kid. In turns funny, sad, patriotic & quite upbeat.
Not a country song by any stretch but I am still fond of the lyrics and hope someone may use it for a TV movie soundtrack or similar.

Letter to Santa
Chorus
Dear Santa, I know you’re so kind,
Bring everyone presents and keep us in mind.
This time of year I’m thinking of you,
And Jesus, of course, you’re tried and true.
Dear Santa, we’re fine, only last year was better:
We’re in a new place, with lots less clutter.
Mom said bring everything that matters, but
You can’t do that when you move out at night.
My older brother claims you don’t exist,
Stupid little dude’s still pretty pissed
He’s kinda low on your long mailing list,
Sleigh size limitations I tell him, he doesn’t get it.
Chorus
Dad’s okay, he just drinks too much,
Back from some awful place, limps with a crutch;
Out of reach, always pissed and such,
Mom says he just needs time to settle down.
Mom’s a dynamo, she’s not giving up;
Bring her fine clothes, Santa, ‘cause she’s still hot.
Three jobs, man, she’s through a lot.
She’s the one’s gonna get us over the top.
Chorus
I’m Jay and I’m doing my best, I won’t bail.
I’m American, I’m tough as nails.
These are rough times but we’ll prevail,
We’re gonna make it, we can’t fail.
Dear Santa, you have so much to do,
For everybody and the few,
Appreciate it if you can help us through.
We’ll be okay between Jesus and you.
Coda
Take care Santa, hope I’m not out of line,
Bring everyone presents and keep us in mind.
Jingle those bells for all mankind,
And keep in touch, if you have time.
