About This Song

This song is about the stuggle to deal with changes in life. I was really going through a rough point when I wrote this but I also think it brought out my inner songwriter. Melancholy can produce some great material sometimes.

I really enjoyed this track. Well produced and performed. The piano at the beginning perfectly captures the essence of the song. It sounds like snow… beautiful and bright but cold and harsh.

I would love to hear a more daring chorus on this track. The verse holds back well, making you wait for the chorus. But then when we get to the chorus it sounds very much like the verse. Same chords, similar melody. I wanted to hear that hook that makes the chorus worth waiting for.  Still, really nice track. The high notes at the end were excellent. The song really sounds like the lyrics, which is hard to pull off… it just sounds like winter. Keep it up.

I’ve told you this before and I’ll say it again. This is a great song! I also think it is highly commercial, especially with the production you did on this version. You should be pitching this song in Nashville (or somewhere).  I have no suggestions to make it better. It’s just really good.

I too got a nice feeling from this song. The piano does feel like snow falling, and yes as your vocals moved higher int he last verse. I really liked that!

My only critique is where you sing cold wind, cold wind, It’s a cold wind, then move into the chorus something just feels like it is distracting form the chorus. That was on my first listen. But soon as I got through the first verse and chorus I was hooked.

Minor stuff, but wow loved the way you hit the final verse!

Nice job, I liked it. Good production, couple of unexpected musical turns, good vocals. Found myself humming after one listen….so nice hook.

Cold, Cold Wind

Written by JT Hillier

Change breaks the mold, seasons showed their face then went
Another summer mixed in with what proved to be a cold wind
Since when was it winter, could have sworn it was just July
Though it's best not to guess the weather in Ohio

It's a cold wind

It's a cold, cold wind, that keeps creeping into summer air
Just cause you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there
It's a cold wind

Got a hold on the notion it's all out of your hands
Came to grips with promotion that God makes most your plans
Is fate an illusion or just a conclusion mixed up in a myth?
After worthless guesses of where it is we fit in with the cold wind?

Repeat chorus

I'm whipping in the winds of change, it's taking me away till I disappear
I'm not a kite, I wasn't built to fly, I'd rather stay right here
But it's a cold wind

Repeat chorus
