I’m primarily interested in writing Country songs. I’ve written Bluegrass and Christian songs. I don’t write music. Usually, I have a song idea. I write a verse, chorus, or maybe both. Then, “shop” the idea with other writers. By myself, I’ve only written the lyrics to 2 songs. On those songs, I couldn’t find an interested cowriter. Funny thing…one song is Southern Gospel. I'm pretty much LYRICS only. However, I try very hard to write new ideas. I try to write songs I've never heard. I research song ideas. I look at what has been written. If I've chosen a different slant, I write my song. If my idea is not particularly original, I try to think of something that is original.
