I wrote this song a few years back. At the time, I was running my visitation center in Florence, AL. We facilitated visits with foster children and their parents. Needless to say it wasn't always roses and sunshine,(very stressful). One night ,I can remember it just being a terrible day that day. One of the fathers had showed up high on meth and threatened to kill my wife and I. When I got home , I went to my room and hit my knees and started praying. I wasn't trying to write a song at the time, but these words hit me like a ton of bricks. I feel anytime you try to do any good in this world you will be met with the opposite. I hope you enjoy this song and that it moves you like it did me.
I had this song demoed out by Drew Middleton here in Nashville TN.

From a Bob Goff podcast interview with Jason Brown, a former NFL lineman. Jason retired from football to go into farming in North Carolina. The Lord told him to bless others with what he had been blessed with. Jason likened that to being a river, not a lake.
