This is a gospel inspired song that celebrates the timeless Christmas story. A female vocal is backed by SATB choir, energetic drums and horns. In the song the phrase "Amezaliwa" means "Jesus is born" in Swahili. The swing-shuffle feel pulses in time with percussion and the dynamics build to a crescendo of praise: "Hallelujah, Jesus is born"!

This song is based on the scripture verse Jeremiah 17:14 "Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." I can't count the number of times God has healed me - I am so grateful. He is good!

This song was inspired by an ancient Jewish melody transcribed from oral tradition by A.Z. Idelsohn that I found. I was captured by the melody and wanted to put it in a modern context. We've all been rescued from dark, stormy seas in our lives and just like the children of Israel God helps us cross over and get to the other side.

This hymn starts with a question: can you hear me? I'm calling and singing to you, but I need assurance that I'm getting through. The singer shouts even more to God. He adores it. And finally, the singer is certain that Jesus hears him.
