The story of my life after losing my son Brandon in a car accident. Everything went down hill from there. Not only did someone try to take my life in a car jacking attempt only 4 months after Brandon's passing, but I also lost a few very close family members within the space of 2 years. I felt like I was being attacked both spiritually, emotionally and physically by the enemy himself (Satan). However, I never gave up on living and my faith in God and the tightness of the relationship I share with my wife and daughter are the reasons why I'm still here and feeling stronger today. I do believe with all my heart that God has a powerful purpose for me, and that my music is one of the mediums through which I must fulfill his purpose.

I’m really sorry to hear about Kenton and I hope you can bring yourself to write songs to honor the memory of him. Before Brandon passed, I literally wrote no more than two or three songs a year. Since then, I’m lost count of just how many I’m written, starting with “One Wish”. My wife said to me, “Carlos you know you have to write a song for Brandon’s funeral” and so I closed myself in his bedroom, sat on his empty bed with my keyboard and the rest is history. In verse 2 of “Testimony” where you got lost, is the part that speaks about the Devil not acting alone, using evil people, crime, sickness, etc., to do his wicked deeds here on Earth against me and you. Kelly, I wish you emotional and spiritual strength and faith, because I’m living proof that God’s actions are unquestionable, and he does these things for the betterment of our loved ones and us.. I may be broken, but I’m able to smile today and laugh with my wife and daughter. Brandon and Kenton want us to go on living our lives so they can be free to continue their spiritual journeys in God’s care.

Your song is powerful and obviously authentic and heartfelt. I like your musical arrangement and the way the song builds. If that is you singing, you have a potential as an artist as well as a songwriter, in my opinion. I am sorry to hear about Brandon. I lost my 38-year-old son Kenton to complications of Covid-19 in November of 2021. He also had a high-functioning autism spectrum disorder and my grieving for him started long before his passing. You are courageous for writing about your loss and your response to it. For me, it was just the ultimate test of faith. Either I believe God knows best or I don’t. There is no middle ground. I haven’t been able to write songs about my experience yet; but I have an idea for one and a few notes. Anyway, great job with the song. In the second verse, when you start talking about “they” I was a little lost for a second; but I got the meaning of it. Anyway, a good, powerful song and an inspiring performance as well. Keep up the good work.
