This song is about …wait for it … leaving.
The verses tell different stories. One about a couple that grow old and the husband passes away leaving his wife behind and the other about a marriage ending in divorce.

You remind me of a song I love
but one that I have never sung
She waited in the waiting room
for a man to say, “There is nothing we can do.”
He left her one last time
when he decided to say close his eyes
Man he really wanted to stay
But God just didn’t make him that way
He whispers, “I know what you need from me
So, when I leave you won’t need anything.”
We’ve heard this all before
he went and found another girl
She wouldn't always say, “Just go find yourself another home.”
But when he finally got up to leave
She decided to take everything
When all along he would have stayed
she finally got it her way
He sings, “I know what you need from me
So, when I leave you won’t have anything.”

Nice guitar sound. At first it sounds like it has a lot of reverb, but then it feels like a pad or a distant, low volume keyboard. Your skills in ambient sounds are worthy of Brian Eno’s attention. It makes for a great production, but never loses the single singer with an acoustic feel to it. It’s hard to pull off a slow, quiet song like this and keep it interesting, but you’ve done it.
