This is a co-write with Justin Strange. He had mentioned the title to me over a year ago but it was in someone else’s hands at that time. Fast forward, I asked him whatever happened to that song and he said “Nothing. The other guy hasn’t gotten back to me...”
I offered to pick up the ball and run with it, and the rest is history. Minor adjustments to the lyrics are a given, so after that was done, I wrote the music and recorded it.
This was my first real foray into self recording in my home studio and production.

[Lyrics by Justin Strange; Lyric edits, Music & Production by Dave Grandel]
She came to me hurtin’,
Tears on her face
Shoulda let her in
Coulda hugged it all away
Woulda been so easy,
But then my stubborn pride
Left me sad and lonely
And broke her down inside
I told myself it’d be alright,
But it’s too late...
I shoulda, coulda, woulda, but I didn’t
Shoulda, coulda, woulda had to try
I shoulda, coulda, woulda, now I can’t
‘cuz I shoulda, coulda, woulda...
She was the love of my life,
But I let her slip away
Sacrificed on a lonely night
When temptation called my name
Shoulda been more loving,
Can't go back to yesterday
Acted like she meant nothing
And now I’m on my own again
I told myself it’d be alright,
But it’s too late...
I shoulda, coulda, woulda, but I didn’t
Shoulda, coulda, woulda had to try
I shoulda, coulda, woulda, now I can’t
‘cuz I shoulda, coulda, woulda...
Take it from me,
Learn from my mistakes
Don’t take another moment for granted
Hold her every day
Show her that you love her,
Don't let it fade away
Repeat PreChorus & Chorus
