THE MAN I AM TODAY
I was eight years old , Daddy lost his job, started drinking and carrying on
Momma said he’d have to stop or she’d take us kids and she’d be gone
I was awful scared, I prayed so hard I came to tears
By the grace of God Daddy turned around, the madness disappeared
Every twist and turn of my rollercoaster life
Define me now every step I take
They still remain, and give me strength inside
And they make me THE MAN I AM TODAY
Cindy Sue and I’d been friends since we both were kids
By high school there was not much doubt who we were with
Then she moved so far way, left me twisting in the wind
Never felt a pain like that, never want to again

I’ve had my share of triumphs, it’s not been just hard times
I’m thankful that I’m still around to taste that sweet, sweet wine
