This song is off my 3rd album , Mended Fences. I wrote it at 5 in the morning waiting for a crane to show up to my job site (have always carried a guitar in my trucks for writing).
It's about a hard working no so educated man sharing his hard won wisdom with others!

The Preacher
By Ray William Roldan
Sun comes up in the mornin'
Frost rides in on the wind,
Winter bites at my finger tips,
another day begins.
I've got GODS chore ahead of me
A few more acres of life still
left to plow
And these children they're all
askin' me, Father!
Whats ahead of us all now?
Now they taught me right from
the good book.
I learnt it all as a child,
I tested all of them passages
while on the streets runnin' wild!
runnin' wild!
While on the streets runnin' wild
Yea' I tested all of them passages,
As A child on them them streets
A runnin' wild.
Bridge:
Now I ain't got a pulpit,
a pretty church or a choir!
But I got rows of GODS golden corn
and I watch 'em grow higher and higher
And some say I'm a no count Preacher
cause i speak from my back porch!
But I know The Word will light
up a soul,
Like a spark to a Kerosene torch!
Now I don't know all them pretty
words.
Can hardly read spell or write,
But I know the lessons I learned
'bout life, will get me through the
darkest of nights,
The darkest of nites.
Through the darkest of nights!
Yes i know the lessons I learned
about life will get me through the
darkest of nights!
Sun comes up in the mornin'
Frost rides in on the wind,
Winter bites at my finger tips,
another day begins.
Thank you LORD, Thank you!
