Not a new one, from a two paragraph slice of life story I read in a book years ago. Don't know for sure if it's true or not. About a chance meeting between an older man and young girl on a bus.
I have always wondered if people "get" the twist in the bridge without having to have the lyrics in front of them and thinking about it.
Nice sweet story.
Vocal intonation often slightly flat.
Best wishes in all your musical endeavors.

HE GAVE HER FLOWERS
The old man loved his wife more than words could ever say
She was his ray of sunshine that brightened every day
He showed his love in presents that he liked to give to her
He went each week to the flower shop to get what she deserved
HE GAVE HER FLOWERS with beauty so rare
HE GAVE HER FLOWERS just to show he cared
One day he rode the bus and held those precious blooms
Across the aisle sat a sweet young girl with eyes big as the moon
He saw how the girl admired his flowers, so he put them in her hands
He said, "I see you've taken a shine to them, I think she'll understand"

The thankful girl watched him leave the bus and then go on his way
But a teardrop fell when she watched him walk through the cemetery gate

Hey Kirk, a wonderful simple heart touching story! English is not my mothertongue, but even I had no problems to understand your story. Very nice!
