About This Song

Past the first flush of youth, time feels as though it runs away with the speed of light. This song tries to say some of those things we should perhaps say before it's too late...

This is the unmixed version of a track from a new double album by my band Kuhl. The music and lyrics were written by me, with an arrangement by Mikey Cooling.

Nice work, David.  I think you have a solid motif and the chorus contrasts nicely with the perpetual motion verses.  I like the harmonies and orchestration in the chorus sections.

Interesting—for some reason, I kept imagining hearing a marimba in the background with a SUBTLE “mariachi band” flavor/feel—and yes, feel free to label me a “lunatic”—HA!!!  Anyway, some nice stuff going on in the song—a nice “smoothness”—best wishes with your musical endeavors!

Thank you, Andrew, for your comments. I like the ‘perpetual motion’ reference - it does work in that way. I’ll post the finished mix when that is ready. Looking forward to checking out your music too.

Hi Bob - love the idea of a mariachi band…a song like this could travel any number of musical pathways…we’re keeping it light and airy. This was, of course, the initial unmixed track, so my producer is working some magic somewhere. I’ll head over to Abnerville later…

You leave me breathless
Breathless
Breathless
You leave me breathless
Breathless, oh…

Remember my kiss
Long after I’m gone
And though silence is bliss
Remember my song
And when darkness descends
And stars pierce the night
I’ll always be there
In the shadows and light

Remember our dreams
The worlds that we drew
The sum of our lives
The me, and the you
Remember the sights
Remember the sounds
Remember the lost
Remember the found

You leave me breathless
With every beat of my heart
Every moment apart
Breathless,
Breathless

Remember the still
Remember the noise
Tumbling words
Scattering toys
Remember the fool
Remember the boy
Remember the tears
Remember the joy

Remember it all
When we run out of time
Walking the walk
Climbing the climb
And should memory fade
Like black holes in the sky
I’ll always be there
At the back of your mind

You leave me breathless
Breathless
With every beat of my heart
Every moment apart
You leave me breathless
