NICE SONG! Vocalist does a nice job. I’d think about trying to shop this to Huey Lewis—the arrangement (horn parts especially) are pretty stiff—but I am guessing that you probably didn’t have the money to actually have this demoed with first rate arranger and musicians.

But AGAIN, I DO think this is essentially a very solid song. It evokes a nice enjoyable feeling on the part of the listener, and a feeling that many folks will immediately be able to internalize!!!

Good job, and best wishes for you songwriting endeavors!!!

Thanks for the feedback Bob. I agree I could get some more life into the horn parts.  However, I tend to work on my own and pull in the odd soloist.
This is a solo effort.

Appreciate your input.

Every blessing.

Written by Sam Speirs

It was half a year, and eighteen days.
Counted every second that I've been away.
I was swallowed up, by a sense of joy,
To see you there waiting for this soldier boy.

I came running out, and you ran too.
First kiss was the sweetest thing I ever knew.
As you drove us home, I stroked your legs
Flew through the front door spent the next four hours in bed,
And now we need a rest.

CHORUS
It's the best kind of empty,
This running on fumes.
Let's take an hour,
To steam in the shower,
Cuddle up to our favourite tunes.
We're making up lost time,
And now we've got plenty,
Baby let's catch our breath,
It's the best kind of empty
Yeah, our favourite empty

Babe, we've been running, in overdrive,
Our bodies celebrating that I'm home alive
The love we make, is a beautiful thing.
Baby, we should take a moment, to let it all sink in.
Before we start again.
