Preacher’s Son & Whiskey (c) 2018
Kris Rogge Fisher (BMI)/Amy Barnett (BMI)
V1 Damn, I couldn’t believe it was you
There you were in a tv interview
Joking ‘round with the late night host
Working the crowd putting on a show
PC You had 'em where you wanted right there in the palm of your hand
V2 Looks like Hollywood suits you just fine
Makes me laugh thinking ‘bout old times
Sneaking wine out your daddy’s church
Ya said, aw, a little bit wouldn’t hurt
You had us where you wanted right there in the palm of your hand
Ch: You could talk me into most anything
Whiskey shots and skinny dipping in the river stream
Gonna raise a glass to those memories
Cheers to a preacher’s son and whiskey
V3 Parking out back the Shell station sign
You called me baby, yea, I called you mine
We use to lie down to count the stars
Maybe we went a little too far
PC You had me where you wanted right there in the palm of your hand
Ch: repeat
Ch: 1/2 for lead break
Bridge: Time to celebrate our history
It’s part of what made me……me
Ch: Repeat

Some quite nice stuff going on in this one:
1) VOCALS—good and solid
2) LYRICS—nice story—though this “general” story has showed up in a number of songs, the addition of the “preacher’s gives it a nice little extra twist.
3) PRODUCTION—very nice
4) MUSIC (chords, melody, etc.)—I thought this aspect of the song was a little too “formulaic” for my tastes—the song is in the key of D—chords are simply [ D - G - A ]—which, of course, are [ 1 - 4 - 5 ] in the key of D.
Overall, I liked your song—good luck to you in all your musical endeavors
