Okay, so I listened again, and yes, the second time you sang the word return doesn’t seem necessary but I could see how it would give the song a lift. Maybe there is a way to tweak that one minute detail. I still like the song a lot, it had a great feel to it, almost like a classic hymn or praise song with a touch of soul.

Haydee Ahrens, thanks for the listen and for the compliments and feedback. You mentioned the two “returns”—The reason for the second “returns” is to establish the new key in the key change, not just with the chords, but also melodically. btw, best wishes with your songwriting endeavors!

CHORUS
Make my heart, to love and wait on you
Make my heart, to love and wait on you
Make me hunger for your presence
Make my heart, to love and wait on you
VERSE
So many times, again I find, I’ve turned my back on you
So many times, I must seem blind, Off track, without a clue
Why do You always take me back, When will I ever learn
You welcome me with open arms, Another prodigal returns
CHORUS
Make my heart, to love and wait on you
Make my heart, to love and wait on you
Make me hunger for your presence
Make my heart, to love and wait on you
Make my heart, to love and wait on you

I love the lyrics and say Amen.
The end of the verse didn’t seem congruous melody-wise, the way you finished off singing “return. Don’t know it seemed incongruous, but other that tiny detail, I enjoyed the song tremendously and felt it ministered to me. I’m gonna listen again.
