When I was appalled that the US would withdraw from various climate accords - I wondered what kind of message we were sending to the generations who were to follow. This one recorded in rougher form.
Any and all feedback welcome!
Wow, thanks Rodney! That was just what I was hoping this one would achieve, sometimes I too cringe thinking of how we will be looked back one, so I am super pleased to hear your feedback! Of course, issues like this will likely polarize listeners - but I do think music is for all things, from just out-and-out having fun, to providing emotional support, to expressing some message. Sure it won’t ever be in the billboard top ten, but I think it’s important to do this now and then with music.
Also cool, a bit of shared background, my degree is in Psychology too (though only one lol!) I appreciate hearing this, was worried the loaded subject matter would just turn people off : )

I want to get this message down
So there's no doubt how it came about
I'm sure you've often wondered why
What awful trouble we had
That made us leave you a world gone bad
So here's the truth, no cozy lie
(the greater profit over greater good)
Hey there all my children's children
You can starve when the crops won't grow
You can thirst when the water won't flow
Gasp for breath when the atmosphere goes
You can burn
You see we wanted everything,
Every luxury this world can bring
We simply saw that as our right
So thank you for your sacrifice
That let us live as we saw fit
We took the day, left you the night
Hey there all my children's children
You can drown when the oceans rise
Try to hide from the scorching sky
Curse our name as you curl up and die
You can burn
Hey there all my children's children
You know that we lived a very good life
We spent the world like a bag of dimes
Leaving you to pay for our crimes
You can burn
I want to get this message down
So there's no doubt, how it came about....

Hi! It’s tough subject matter to write about and I always gravitate towards that. I have a couple of psychology degrees and difficult situations have a lot of emotional energy to “play” with as a writer. You didn’t seem to hold back lyrically and it made me think about how someone two generations from now might look at it. The perspective seems to be from the very person who would destroy the environment and not give a hoot. You did a great job. Kind of made me cringe at the thought of how we might be remembered 100 years from now.
