I never intended to write this song. It came from on of Brent’s Daily Kickstarters. The word was back.

This song came from a childhood memory fishing along the banks of the Tennessee River, in Florence , AL.

This is a story about moral failure, accountability and redemption. I tried to write it in way that didn’t blame the female character for the affair.

Story of loss and making the most of the time we have. I lost my Father and Brother a few years apart. Both were Veterans. I also wrote this as my daughter went off to college.

I stopped writing for 23 years while we raised our 6 kids. When i started playing guitar again my wife turned our bonus room into my music room. About that time my Mom gave me the broken mandolin this song is about. That mandolin was on my writing desk and i wondered about the history she had with my family.

When i was a kid i lived in a dry county in Alabama. Kids at school talked about bootleggers snd one time i saw a bootlegger drop off a couple six packs.
