This song came after breakup a few years back. This guy just didn't want to be in a relationship; he felt smothered no matter how much space I gave him. Hard as it was, I let him go. I wasn't going to compromise what I deserved in the relationship.
I could not agree more with Joey on this. This song is really great.

Joey, that’s exactly what I was aiming for! I’m so glad you like it. I agree, sometimes the most beautiful work comes from awful pain, but it makes it worth it.

I love the lyrics to this song. It was the first I ever listened to by you. The title itself is simple but it goes much deeper. Very heartfelt.

It’s amazing to me how such a pretty song could come out of such a difficult situation. I think sometimes the best songs have opposing elements—and Lark’s Song has some deep lyrics with very airy production and melody. I like it.
