About how I, according to others, was born to fill a void in my mother's life when her beloved mother passed away in the prime of her life. It seems my parents had been trying to have a second child for years, then at the right moment it happened..
I've always been torn on what to call this, "I Love Lucy," which is the first line of the chorus but is also an iconic sit-com, "Song For Lucy," which I went with here, or simply, "Lucy." Other thoughts are welcome too.

Song For Lucy
Lucy died on Christmas morning, 1959
She never got to be my grandma, by Heaven's grand design
Left a hole in my mama's heart for the Good Lord to repair
So I came along in the Winter of "60," in answer to her prayers
And I... love Lucy
More than words can tell
And I... love Lucy
For she taught my mama well
She gave to her a heart as big as all of Tennessee
When she died, she left a space there
Just big enough for me
Lucy was a single mother - lost her man to the war
But she found time to raise four children in the virtues of the Lord
Faith and Hope and Charity, as they are known up above
And of these three, she told my mama, the greatest one is Love
(Chorus)
Lucy died on Christmas morning, 1959
And though I never even knew her, she's with me all the time
She talks to me in my mama's words and sees me through her tears
And in my heart, I know that she is the reason I am here
(Half Chorus/fade)
And I... love Lucy
More than words can tell
And I... love Lucy
For she taught my mama well
And I... love Lucy
More than words can ever tell
And I... love Lucy
For she taught my mama well

Interestingly, I never thought of this song as commercial, but got an absolutely glowing critique on it by a successful L.A. songwriter/producer. He told me I “should write more songs like this.” I always assumed the story was too personal and specific to appeal much to others. I dunno. I suppose a song can be both “good” and unmarketable. What say you?
