I wrote this song basically asking the question "does anybody still want to hear... Silly Little Love Songs"?. My answer if always Yes!
Would love to hear what you guys think about this song, and what artist you think would sound good doing this song.
I think this is your best of all three songs . To improve it, I would suggest that you make the bridge a little longer. Instead of “three chords and a heart that knows ” maybe “three words and a heart that knows” and then add another line like “whether time goes fast or slow it’s something that we can grow”. Maybe that line is kinda cringey but you get the point. Right now it seems like you don’t complete the thought all the way.

Thanks so much Christopher and Robert for your responses and feedback, I appreciate it!!!
I’ll definitely work on some of that for the final version.
Thanks!

Silly Little Love Songs
Written by: David Jagge ©2026
Verse 1
Everybody’s talking loud
Saying love’s been played out
Every song’s gotta be deep now
Or it don’t count
But I heard one the other night
Three chords, felt just right
Hit me like it always does
Simple words
Pre-Chorus
They say we’ve heard it all before Yeah…
maybe that’s the point
Chorus
Does anybody still wanna hear
Silly little love songs
Something you can sing out loud
Even if it’s been done before
When the world moves way too fast
I just want something that lasts
Call it old, call it wrong
I still believe in a love song
Verse 2
We dress it up, we overthink
Say more than we really mean
But “I love you” still cuts through
Clean and true
Pre-Chorus
Yeah, we’ve heard it all before
Still coming back for more
Chorus
Does anybody still wanna hear
Silly little love songs
Something you can sing out loud
Even if it’s been done before
When the world moves way too fast
I just want something that lasts
Call it old, call it wrong
I still believe in a love song
Bridge
Maybe it’s just how it goes
Three chords and a heart that knows
Final Chorus
Does anybody still wanna hear
Silly little love songs
Yeah, I do, I always will
Even if nobody else says so
When the noise gets way too strong
That’s when we need a love song
Call it old, call it wrong
I still believe in a love song

Hi David,
I really enjoyed this. It’s a clever, self-aware take on songwriting that never loses sight of the emotional heart of the idea. The chorus is instantly relatable, and “I still believe in a love song” is a simple, honest statement that sticks with you. I also loved the line, “But ‘I love you’ still cuts through, clean and true.” My only suggestion would be to make the verses a little more visual by grounding the ideas in specific moments or images, and to let the bridge dig a little deeper emotionally before the final chorus. Overall, this is a thoughtful, well-crafted song that reminds us why love songs never really go out of style. Thank you for writing and sharing !!!
