Hello, sir!

I really enjoyed this one. The premise feels modern and relatable, and I liked how the table became a recurring object throughout the story.

One thing I noticed is that most of the song is built from specific details and moments, which works really well. In the back half, lines like “made me feel okay” and “that changed everything” felt a little more summarized compared to the rest of the song.

I found myself wanting one more tangible moment or detail that would let us experience those feelings the same way the earlier verses do.

Just food for thought. Thanks for sharing!

This is a really clever premise. I love how you took such a modern, everyday situation and made it feel timeless and romantic. The Silver Lake setting, the rain, the table, and the shared heartbreak all create a believable scene that pulls the listener in. The repeated “paid her full price” line is a strong hook because it works both literally and emotionally. My favorite part is the table not fitting in the car—it feels natural rather than contrived and gives the story a reason to continue. Overall, it’s a well-crafted story song with a memorable concept and a satisfying payoff. Great job turning an ordinary moment into something that feels special.

It was two on a Saturday
Driving down to Silver Lake
Clouds were hanging low and gray
Felt like it might rain
Marketplace pickups usually
Don’t get personal
You check the thing, you hand the cash
And leave, that’s typical
But she opened up the door and smiled
Warm wood table, clean‑lined style
Something in her eyes slowed time
For a little while
A seller can ask whatever they want to
But I paid her full price
’Cause something in her smile hit different
And I didn’t think twice
Funny how a table turns a moment
Into something you feel inside
One honest talk in Silver Lake
And suddenly she changed my life
Two strangers standing in L.A.
Swapping heartbreak in the rain
She said her ex had left by text
I said mine walked away
Something in the way she listened
Made me feel okay
She asked if I would meet for coffee
And that changed everything
The table didn’t fit in my car
So I said I’d come back later
When I did, she met me at the door
And I kissed her by that table
A seller can ask
whatever they want to
But I paid her full price
’Cause meeting her felt like a score
So, I didn’t think twice
Never thought a Saturday in Silver Lake
Would be the start of something more
One honest talk and one old table
And now
she’s who I’m singing for
