Another attempt to write a country tune. Penned the lyrics and had Suno hang the melody. Hopefully it does not sound like another country song.
Wondering if it sounds too “preachy”.

School is ending, vacations booked
Calendars filling up
By now, we’re all in summer mode
Some of us hitting the road
Which is why this Fathers Day
The best gift you can give
Is a little handwritten note
And letting him just live
He’d like to read your thoughts
Not get a gift that’s store-bought
He craves the gift of appreciation
The gift of hanging out
Or a little hand-written note
Dad’s the one who pays for dinner
Even when he says he won’t.
We all reach for our wallets
But he knows good and well we don’t.
He’d like to read your thoughts
Not get a gift that’s store-bought
He craves the gift of appreciation
The gift of hanging out
Or a little hand-written note
Nothing to fix, nothing to do
A moment to feel valued
Maybe a word of thanks
That’s all he really wants from you
He just wants to hear from you
Father’s Day neckties
will sit in a drawer
and money is tight
For a table for four
Just Spending time
with people he loves
No loud gadgets but
maybe watching some Netflix
He’s the quiet kind of comfort
That you don’t expect to find.
Just his presence in the doorway
Brings a peace that’s hard to define.
He’d like to read your thoughts
Not get a gift that’s store-bought
He craves the gift of appreciation
The gift of hanging out
Or a little hand-written note
Nothing to fix, nothing to do
A moment to feel valued
Maybe a word of thanks
He just wants to hang with you
Just wants to hear from you
That’s all he wants from you
(And maybe bring back his tools )
oooh ooh oooh
