A heartbroken guy spends his nights telling bigger and bigger stories about an ex he never got over. And this is what I came up with .......

I LIE - ABOUT YOU
Written by Christopher Mason

Old man Johnson at the feed store asked,
"How's that girl you've been seein'?"
I said, "Buddy, that's ancient news,
She begged me to stay, I gave her reasons."
Said she calls me every Tuesday,
Cries and wants another shot.

The fish get bigger every time,
And so does this tale somehow.

I lie about you,
Like a politician campaignin',
Like a fisherman at weigh-in
When the scales ain't cooperatin'.
I say I broke your heart
And left you cryin' black and blue.
Lord, I've told some whoppers,
But none bigger than—
I lie about you.

Told the boys down at the VFW
You still got my picture framed.
That my phone keeps lightin’ up ,
Beggin' me to change my ways.
Said I traded up and moved on,
Got women lined up two by two.
Truth is Friday night and me
Still reserve a stool for you.

I said
I bought a bass boat,
I climbed Kilimanjaro.
I turned down Nashville,
I won the lottery too
I said my truck gets thirty miles a gallon,
And my ex still wants me back.
Now that's where everybody knows
I'm stretchin' facts.

I lie about you,
Like a dog about who ate dinner,
Like a gambler pickin' winners
After losin' on every scratcher.
I say you can't get over me,
And you still wear my old flannel too.
The truth is I ain't over you,
So I lie about you.

Yeah, I lie about you.
