About This Song

All Along is a faith-filled country ballad about looking back on life's dry seasons and realizing God was working the entire time. What seemed like a desert was actually a path He was building—He was there, all along.

Wow! This is very thought out. I love the pictures you paint in this song. The melody is outstanding and that chorus…it hit like a frieght train. Absolutely love this song, well done!

Michael, thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and share that. I’m humbled by your comments. I spent a lot of time trying to paint those pictures and build the chorus so it would have some emotional weight, so hearing that it connected with you means a lot. Thanks again for the encouragement and for giving the song a listen!

ALL ALONG
Written by Christopher Mason

I was walkin' through a dry season
Dust kickin' up around my boots
Every road looked like it dead-ended
Every prayer felt worn and used

Thought I was stranded
In a land where nothin' grows

Thought Heaven had gone silent
Thought the riverbeds gone dry
Wanderin' through the desert
Tryin' to make it on my own

Lookin' back I see Your footprints
Beside every step I walked
I couldn't see the road You were buildin'
You were there
All along

Funny how a seed can hide awhile
Beneath the sand where no one knows
Roots keep reachin' deeper
Long before the green stuff shows

Thought I was breakin'
You were makin' somethin' strong

Thought Heaven had gone silent
Thought the riverbeds gone dry
Wanderin' through the desert
Tryin' to make it on my own

Lookin' back I see Your footprints
Beside every step I walked
I couldn't see the road You were buildin'
You were there
All along

You were rivers underground
What I called a desert
You called it a road
All along

Thought Heaven had gone silent
Thought the riverbeds gone dry
Wanderin' through the desert
Tryin' to make it on my own

Lost in the wasteland
With nowhere left to run
You were makin' rivers in the desert
All along

Yeah, what I called a desert
You called it a road
All along
