This all started with this melody I came up with on my guitar. I had half written a song to it but was struggling to finish it. I took it to my Buddy Bernie Nelson and we and we came up with this. This one is probably one of my favorites.
Any feedback is welcomed, thanks.
Instantly relatable! I like the vulnerability and love the classic Patsy Cline feel to it. Also, I want to thank you for showing how much can be expressed in a simple two verse and two chorus song; i need to keep in my mind that sometimes shorter is better. Great job!

Thank you Mark, it’s funny you mentioned Patsy Cline. When I started writing this song it was about her. When I started working with Bernie Nelson we decided to go a different direction and we wrote what you hear today. But you are correct, the song is modeled after her style.

Verse 1]
Well you called me
Just to see
How I was doing
Since you left me
Am I still eating
Am I sleeping
Good at night
Well I thank you
For checking in
I'm still the same I've always been
A few more teardrops
And I'm sure
I'll be alright
[Chorus]
'Cause I'm only
Lonely
I'm still breathing
I'm still needing
The love I knew
And I'm just crying
I'm not dying
No I'm just lonely
But only
For you
[Verse 2]
Well I hear you're
Doing well
If you're lonely
It's hard to tell
Someone told me
You've already
Got a new girl
Well I wonder
If she knows
That someday you'll
Let her go
I guess forever
Well it's never
In your plans
[Chorus]
'Cause I'm only
Lonely
I'm still breathing
I'm still needing
The love I knew
And I'm just crying
I'm not dying
No I'm just lonely
But only
For you
[Outro]
Yes I'm lonely
Lonely
For you

This sounds great, very pleasant to listen to.
It makes sense as direct unrehearsed thought and speech by her. So it could remain as is or you can go over it line by line to see if there’s any places you might want to tighten up that possibly could make it even better. Either way, I like it.
