This song all started with this melody I came up with. I was drinking coffee on my back porch when these words came to me. Having served in the military, I used my experiences with my best friend in the military, John, to write this song.
I would like to know.... How did the song made you feel? Did it grab your attention. Was it easy to follow along? When did it stop being interesting? Did it speak to you in a meaningful way? Were you able to connect with the message of the song?

(V1)
Sitting at my table with my coffee cup
Being half full she filled it up
I looked up to see her smiling at me
And she was wearing his class ring
She didn't know a thing
(V2)
She handed me my Ruben and my waffle fries
I looked up at her and we locked eyes
She said "Honey does everything look alright"
That's when I told her I knew her John
And her smile was gone
(Chorus)
I said Im sorry I didn't mean to make you sad
Your son and I were over in Bagdad
He use to talk about you all the time
You don't know me but I sure know you
John read me your letters a time or two
Tonight I couldn't help but come out to see
The woman who made the man that saved me
(V3)
Year have gone by and life moves on
Today I stopped by to visit John
But all this guilt was tearing me apart
I saw this chapel on the way
So I stopped to pray
(V4)
I walked in to she her standing there
Her hands together as if in prayer
A single tear was falling down her face
Mother Mary in white and blue
It was then I knew
(Chorus)
I said Im sorry I didn't mean to make you sad
Your son and I were over In Bagdad
I use to pray to Him all the time
You don't know me but I sure know you
Iv read the good book a time or two
Tonight I couldn't help but come out to see
The woman who made the man that saved me
