About This Song

I know!! This one could certainly raise some very honest and very correct eyebrows. I get that! And no, I don't condone it in any way. It has a bit of an edge and an undertone/topic that is probably better not being spoken (in my community and household anyway- LOL!) It's just art here ya know. But, I do believe it is relatable by most young people who just want "out from under the thumb", and who wanna run wild for a bit. Try hard to think on a "Journey-esq - Don't Stop Believing" sorta thing, but from a hillbilly, small farm town perspective. LOL! - Good luck and thanks for listening

Hey Shane, I think this is your best song so far. To improve it, I think I would change the midnight line..first time it’s fine it’s midnight but then next verse it’s Sunday night and a new week and then comes a new month or just New Year’s Eve and a new year. Just adds a sense of time moving forward. Just my.02

Growin’ Wild - (In the...

Written by Shane Trepeaux

Saturday night party porch lights lowered.
Last cicadas hum, empty fields grow colder.
Nothin’ left for a farm boy to pass the time.

His future bright and his hometown dead.
Good friends meet up to hang instead.
Out to roll good smoke and speak deep minds.

He says, “You and I deserve a ‘lil better.
I’m tired of this farm, the dirt and weather.
I’d get outta’ here if I wasn’t so damn high!

It’s midnight another day is over
Startin’ a new one while gettin’ older.
Watchin’ the weeds takin’ hold and growin’ wild.

Nothin’ to do in this little town but to chop’em back and just settle down.
The sweetest grapes on the vine, they just take time.
While they’re growin’ wild.
While they’re growin’ wild!

Homecomin’ night, bleachers quiet, game over.
Trapped at home, parents bitch’n and moanin’
Nothin’ for daddy’s good girl to pass the time.

Her future bright and her hometown dead.
A friend comes over to hang instead.
Good girls just wanna have fun and dance all night. …That’s right.

She says, “You and I deserve a ‘lil better.
I’m done with drama queens and old love letters.
Let’s sneak outta here ‘n find those guys we like. …….and get high……….Oh my!!

While they’re growin’ wild

Drive ‘em all wild Trepeaux!!

It’s midnight another day is over
Startin’ a new one while gettin’ older.
Watchin’ the weeds takin’ hold and growin’ wild. ……………….Yeah!

Nothin’ to do in this little town but to chop’em back and just settle down.
The sweetest grapes on the vine, they just take time.
While they’re growin’ wild.
While they’re growin’ wild

Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that crop Momma!

While they’re growin’ wild

They’re gonna be alright.

While they’re growin’ wild.

While they’re growin’ wild.
