Cowboys don’t cry

Written by Paul deMarco

Cowboys don’t cry

Geraint wyn Edwards/Paul deMarco ©January 2021

Verse
A crisp November morning, out for a ride
I’ll never forget what happened the day that old Jack died
I grew up in his shadow, found freedom on his back
But nature can be oh so cruel, as blue skies turn to black

Chorus
I looked to the sky and asked With tears in my eyes
Can someone tell me why Cowboys don't cry

Verse
Winter had come real quickly And he sure had a plan
He brought along the wicked wind That took away my friend
Daddy arrived with a shovel, and he dug that hole real deep
He told me not to think of Jack as dead, just quietly asleep

Chorus
I looked to the sky and asked With tears in my eyes
Can someone tell me why Cowboys don't cry

Bridge
Well Daddy’s hand rested on my head, Said don’t you worry son
Don’t you be ashamed to cry… You're not the only one
I'll never forget that moment no matter how time passed by
Cos he spoke every word with tears in his eyes

Verse
Spring returned real swiftly, brought Autumn to its knees
Working quietly in the yard in the fresh live giving breeze
When Mamma broke the news… That Daddy had passed on
I slowly walked to old jack's grave and tried to be strong

Chorus
I looked to the sky and asked With tears in my eyes
Can someone tell me why Cowboys don't cry
