OPEN UP AMERICA
John has owned the City Lights Café for nineteen years
His family’s contributed their blood sweat and tears
But he’s been shut down for months and told his business wasn’t safe
As his workers struggle, he wonders if there’s a better way
OPEN UP AMERICA, let’s all take a stand
OPEN UP AMERICA, and we will rise again
Susie’s worked the beauty shop and went to school part time
She had path a plan of moving up, a real plan for her life
But the shop’s been closed since April, now she’s living with her folks
With such an uncertain future, she doesn’t know which way to go
CH
We’ve got to believe this is the dark before the dawn
Put the pedal to the metal before this country’s gone
