Growing up in a small town as a teenager, we hung around the railroad tracks near this old railroad station. Part of growing up, playing baseball, breaking hearts and drinking beer. I remember Crushing Pennies on these tracks as well as we would crush a beer can, or finish off a bottle of 99 cent boones farm wine at the time.

CRUSHING BEER CANS
VERSE I
There’s a train track that runs through this town and every time I hear that whistle
It brings me back to my hometown, growing up, when I was little
Sitting on the tracks with a paper sack, over a bottle of no harm, for 99 cents I’d catch a buzz on Boones Farm
There was a water tower that I used to climb every time I fell in love
It was her name and mine but over time they faded in the rust
Like that Texaco sign on grandpas truck those letters disappeared
They may have faded away but they didn’t take---- away my childhood years-when
CHORUS
I was smashing pennies on the tracks, smoking cigarettes
I was drinking beer by the six packs, I wasn’t 18 yet
I was hitting balls out of the park, breaking young girls’ hearts
This is who I was, this is where I began, Crushing Beer Cans
VERSE II
Norfolk Southern still goes by here every other day, it stills rolls down these tracks, just like it was yesterday
And every time I hear that train rolling around the bend, I just sit here on my porch tippin’em back like I did back when
CHORUS
I was smashing pennies on the tracks, smoking cigarettes
I was drinking beer by the six packs, I wasn’t 18 yet
I was hitting balls out of the park, breaking young girls’ hearts
This is who I was, this is where I began, Crushing Beer Cans
LEAD/BRIDGE
And every time I go downtown to buy me a bottle of wine, I stop by that old station to reminisce about old times-When
CHORUS
I was smashing pennies on the tracks, smoking cigarettes
I was drinking beer by the six packs, I wasn’t 18 yet
I was hitting balls out of the park, breaking young girls’ hearts
This is who I was, this is where I began, I caught my first buzz on 12 oz. cans
So I’m raising up this cold one in my hand, here’s to Crushing Beer Cans
