Where has this song been hiding?  Lyrics and melody are amazing. Thankfully I can’t relate to the lyrics, but I suspect that so many lives could be changed by your heartfelt words.  Best of luck on this song. It should be on country radio right now. Great job. I applaud you.

I couldn’t agree more Linda, I have listened to Marvin’s songs for a couple of years, I think he is one of the finest country writers I have ever heard, his songs remind me of the days gone by which I loved and grew up with.

Leave it to you Marvin to come up with a new way of expressing a song about booze and family, there is a very odd chord change in there (More like a temporary key change) which caught me off guard but it works well.. I actually found this again when you posted it on Facebook.  God bless man, your one of the best songwriters around.

Bottom of a Glass

Written by Marvin Adcock

He said I gotta twist free from this corkscrew life I’m livin’ in
Pour the pain out of the bottle life’s become
But the whiskey’s always temptin’ me to givin’ in
To one more drink to numb the damage that it’s done

Even when I’m not drinkin’ I’m still thinkin’ ‘bout the booze
It’s a roller coaster spinnin’ me every way but loose
Never knowin’ when it’s gonna stop or when I’m gonna crash
Cause you never see the truth until it’s starin’ back at you
From the bottom of a glass

He said I haven’t kissed my kids goodnight in Lord knows how long
To ashamed they’ll smell the whiskey on my breath
I’ve been told that gettin’ sober is a life long marathon
But I ain’t even got the strength to take twelve steps

Even when I’m not drinkin’ I’m still thinkin’ ‘bout the booze
It’s a roller coaster spinnin’ me every way but loose
Never knowin’ when it’s gonna stop or when I’m gonna crash
Cause you never see the truth until it’s starin’ back at you
From the bottom of a glass

He said It’s my first time to admit I’m powerless
I’m here tonight so I can whip my cowardice

Cause even when I’m not drinkin’ I’m still thinkin’ ‘bout the booze
It’s a roller coaster spinnin’ me every way but loose
Never knowin’ when it’s gonna stop or when I’m gonna crash
Cause you never see the truth until it’s starin’ back at you
From the bottom of a glass

No you never see the truth until it’s starin’ back at you
From the bottom of a glass
