About This Song

This song is several quirky southern phrases we southerns know and use daily all rolled into one, sassy song.

I really like this Jodie.  A couple of the lines seem a little long for the phrasing but I really like the idea of the song.  It would sound even better with some studio production behind it.

Bless Your Heart

Written by Jodie Ross

“Bless Your Heart”- Jodie Ross

Verse 1
Well you gone and done ruffled up my feathers again
Got me madder than an old, wet hen
You can say you’re sorry ‘til the cows come home
I’m done with your apologies, leave me alone
You’re barking up the wrong tree messing with me

Chorus
Well, don’t let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya on your way out
You can kiss my grits talking that (shh) saying “darling, sugar, sweetheart”, yeah
You’re gonna make me lose my religion
We’re gonna have a come to Jesus meeting
But God don’t like ugly, so I’ll just have to say
Bless your heart

Verse 2
Hold your horses, this ain’t my first rodeo
You can’t go and treat me however floats your boat
I should’ve known from your past
That you were nothing but a snake in the grass
Quit your crying ‘fore I give ya something to cry about

Bridge
‘Cause I’m fixin’ to
Throw a good ole hissy fit on you
What in Sam Hill did you make me feel
I must confess you got me feeling like a hot mess
I’m so over this
You can go on and tell your mama and ‘em
