About This Song

A song about rising above childhood challenges, current challenges or people that try to bring you down. Still working on getting my mic levels solid!

I’m returning the favor, since you commented on one of my songs. smile .. This song sounds really good. I think this might be the first trap style drum track I’ve heard on this site! Lol. The mix for the music sounds really good, and balanced well. You do a great job of adding things as the song progesses to allow the song to build and not be boring (something I really struggle with). You should check out a guy name Friedemann Findeisen. https://blog.holistic-songwriting.com/home/. He does a really good job of explaining music production and how to create tension and excitement when producing songs. This song reminded me of that. It sounds like you’ve already mastered that, but I’ll bet you would like how he analyzes and breaks down hit pop songs. He also has an audio book that I was able to get from the library. Personally, I think the levels for your lead vocal and your backing vocals is pretty good. I think they could use more presence to make them cut through your mix better, but that’s just my amateur opinion. Maybe a little delay on the vocal. I think the level is good. Just maybe a little too muffled sounding, and maybe a little too up front and in your face. Again, take my comments with a grain of salt… Now, I think that I would want the chorus to really be powerful and strong. I feel like that should come in like a ton of bricks. She’s a WARRIOR, right? Maybe that’s where you add the big bass and kick drum part. One example of what I’m trying to say is How Do You Sleep by Sam Smith. It’s a similar feel to your song intro and chorus, and then it really kicks in more powerful (technically after the chorus, but you get the idea). Or, the song Fight Song, which is kind of a warrior song too. On that song, the chorus really hits big and powerful, which works well with a song about fighting or warriors…. One more thing that might help you. I just found a really cool tool on Bandlab’s website. If you upload your mix to it, it has a Mastering tool that will “master” your track and really help with level of the song and it smooths it out pretty well. It’s supposed to make it more radio sounding or radio ready. You should try it out. You may or may not like it, but I’ve used it and I think it does a nice job….Sorry for the long ramble. Great song. Thanks for sharing.

She’s a Warrior! I like this one too Ms. Sara! Keep grinding at this you have a real writing talent. I like Rick’s idea in the fact of punching the listener with that chorus break warrior. Overall great song though gave me that Alicia Keys vibe.
