Rockabilly isn't a genre listed on the drop down menu. My target market would be Country for this holiday song.
It's almost time for that Christmas season to begin. Every mall in America is going to be decorated and filled with music for the holiday festivities. My goal was to create something different from all the other traditional holiday songs people hear around this time of year.
This demo recording is a little rough around the edges. I recorded this with my songwriters voice and playing the guitar at the same time. I added a drum track to keep me in time for the most part.
I'm looking for feedback on the lyrics, melody and the chord progression. Also, if you can think of any artist that this song would fit into their wheelhouse let me know. I wrote it without an artist in mind.

Enjoyed it. Like most Christmas songs, the imagery seems viewed through evergreen-colored glasses. But your intention isn’t to subvert expectations, it’s to meet them… And I think this succeeds.
The one thought I had while listening is that this could be a progression song. That is, you could have different holidays in the verses and pretty much keep the chorus as is. Might be fun way to explore what ties all holidays together… Time with the family.
Good luck!

This Time Of Year (Give Thanks)
Children twist in line hoping to tell old Santa Claus
All their wants, needs and happy wishes
There's people smiling from parents to grandparents
Sipping hot cider to the sounds of Christmas
Oh, it's a joyful noise ringing in our ears
That's what I love about this time of year
CHORUS
This time of year, this time of year
We celebrate with gifts of love
This time of year, this time of year
Give thanks to the Lord above
Thanks to the Lord above
Grab a book to read, scroll through photos you adore
And listen to some music along the way
Sing a melody from your heart like a Christmas caroler
Maybe take a little joy ride on a mall train
Oh, it's a joyful noise ringing in our ears
That's what I love about this time of year
CHORUS
Bridge
I don't mind traditions of those holiday trends
What matters most is what you give in the end
CHORUS
This time of year
Give thanks to the Lord above
This time of year
This time of year
This time of year
This time of year give thanks
Give thanks
