Wrote the song a number of years ago for my mom, who always pursued the dream of making the lives of her children and family better than her own.
In what genre would you classify this song?
What other artist would you compare the song to?
No big ego here to get hurt, so honest, constructive critique, good, bad or ugly are all welcome.
Thanks,
H
Hi Frank,
Appreciate the feedback. The producer was going for an easy listening, laid back lounge music sound. I am not looking for a mainstream artist release with this one. It is aimed more at the film and tv sync market. I get lots of briefs looking for similar style.
Thanks,
H

Good production I liked the early feel to it
The sax was a compliment to the song
I just would have liked to have a better vision
Of your dream lady and a fewer dreams in the song
Not ment to be negative I just think there is more
You could say to paint it

Hi Corey,
Appreciate the comments. No feedback is negative, it only depends on how ones ego interprets it. Like most songwriters, I had to cut down the song to get it under 4 minutes. After numerous rewrites and amendments this is what was considered to be best. Again, because the song is targeted primarily for sync, less is more has to be the priority. Sync are not looking for elaborate story songs. Most synced songs never get entire track play.

DREAM LADY
Written by: Howard Delnick
Chorus:
DREAM LADY, DREAM THE WHOLE DAY THROUGH
OH, DREAM LADY, DREAMIN'S ALL YOU DO
OH, YOU CAN DREAM LADY, IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO DO
OH BUT YOU'LL FIND THAT DREAMS REALLY DON'T COME TRUE
Verse:
THERE'S NO TOMORROWS, IN THE DREAMS OF YESTERDAY
AND THERE'S NO HANGIN' ON TO, THE DREAMS THAT GOT AWAY
SO LIVE THE PRESENT, AND FILE YOUR DREAMS AWAY
'CAUSE YOU'RE ONLY GOING TO DREAM YOUR LIFE AWAY
Verse:
OH, ONCE IN A WHILE WE ALL HAVE DREAMS
AND ONCE IN A WHILE THEY'LL HAVE THEIR WAY
BUT DREAMIN' 'BOUT THE THINGS THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN
ARE ALL DREAMS OF YESTERDAY
Chorus: (twice)

Hey Howard, sounds like a song from the early 70ies.
I like the vibe and especially the Sax. Hard to tell which artist I would compare it to, maybe because of the sax it reminds me to Curtis Stigers. But there’s also some Glen Cambell in it and some Simon & Garfunkel. So not the worst neighborhood, but it sounds dated for today’s markets.
