I wrote this with David Micheal. David produced and sang the demo.
It would have been cool to have the crow photoshopped standing on an old, almost empty whiskey bottle.

The rhyme scheme and beat is perfect for today’s country radio. The story is certainly common in country music, but now days it comes with a little humor to lighten things up. The cleverness of the lyric is fun, but I think it isn’t funny enough to make Luke Bryan want to sing this song. He would come off not great here. Unlike Brad Paisley when he says, “I’m gonna miss her.” Also, I think young listeners might not know what “eating crow” means unlike old people like myself. I say make it funnier.

I like how you guys made a sad song uptempo and catchy, the chorus flows well and sticks in your head. sounds like a hit to me, I can hear a guy like Riley green singing it. good luck Brent.

I like the song a lot. I’m not sure that people say “eat crow” anymore. But I don’t know what the modern equivalent is and if there is one, it’s probably vulgar :D

(by: David Micheal, Brent Baxter)
She loved me, no doubt
Had the diamond picked out
I was damn proud
Told the whole town
So everybody knew
Now they ask me about her
And I eat my words
Bartender, gimme something
To help ‘em go down smooth
PRE-CHORUS
Oh, oh whiskey and crow
Never should’ve said that she’d never walk out
Woah, oh whiskey and crow
Sippin’ on one to wash the other one down
CHORUS:
Hand full of feathers, shot full of Jack
Lump in my throat stuck right where it’s at
Heart to the shredder, lips to the glass
Here’s to forever, she never comin’ back
So woah, oh whiskey and crow
Woah, oh whiskey and crow
Now I’m chewing on my plans
What I thought would happen
That’s so
Hard to swallow
Gonna need another round
PRE-CHORUS
CHORUS
Everybody knows
And I can’t hide
So I’m drowning my heart
And choking on pride... With a
CHORUS

CLEVER lyric “construct”!!! (though musically not necessarily down my alley). Brent, best of luck with this one
