About This Song

I was at home getting cleaned up after a day out working in our yard when my husband came in from work and yelled out "Lucy, I'm Home" just like he's done practically all of our married life, except that day it hit me, "What if I never got to hear that again?" Maybe there are still some "I Love Lucy" fans out there that can relate!

Nice construct lyrically—bridge is JUST RIGHT (like “Baby Bear’s soup”). Sweet, and I liked it!

Lucy I’m Home

Written by Lora Stamps

“Lucy I’m Home”
Lora J. Stamps
Verse I.
When we met it was Spring time oh to be that young again
Falling in love and marring and having our kids
And we did a lot of rocking we played a lot of ball
We must have blinked cause our babies grew tall
And life has been wonderful we’ve had struggles too
But every day oh every day I have loved you
Chorus:
So don’t ever make me miss a love like this
Oh being with you a hug or a kiss
And don’t ever make me miss us talking on the phone
You coming back when you’ve been gone
          Or hearing Lucy I’m home
Verse II.
I’ll still run to a mirror if I see you coming down the drive
to make sure my hair and makeup looks alrighty
And I’m as eager as ever for a ride in your truck
Or an afternoon picnic down by the church
Oh you’ve always made me laugh with your crazy ways
And I’ve always hung on every word you say
Chorus:
So don’t ever make me miss a love like this
Oh being with you a hug or a kiss
And don’t ever make me miss us talking on the phone
You coming back when you’ve been gone
          Or hearing Lucy I’m home
Verse lll.
If I could have one hundred years with you I’d still want one more
And I’d want to be waiting when you walked through the door
Chorus:
So don’t ever make me miss a love like this
Oh being with you a hug or a kiss
And don’t ever make me miss us talking on the phone
You coming back when you’ve been gone
          Or hearing Lucy I’m home
          Oh Lucy I’m home
