I love the way you go from the verse to the chorus. Unusual and fresh. I guess one has to stand out like that to be noticed.

Matthew, Mark, Luke, her John, will she open her door, when he comes knockin’
Her everyday life gone to Hell, trapped in her own prison cell
A night stand, keys to her getaway car, her twenty bucks won’t take her far
She rattled that bedside drawer, the motel Bible fell to the floor
A sign from above, her blurry eyes felt God’s love
Her lowest low, God knows, she’s only human
Her fingers traced a dog-eared page of His almighty plan
She was not alone, a motel Bible in her hands
Matthew, Mark, Luke, no John, she locked the deadbolt, just tryin' to hang on
Psalm 23, her Shepherd, between the Devil and deep
Ready to throw herself away…a motel Bible saved her that day
Repeat Chorus
She cried…“How many saints and sinners, have held this Bible before
And how many lost souls, never open that drawer…”
John found an empty room, her twenty bucks, her note said “Thank You”
He flipped over that bedside drawer, the motel Bible fell to the floor
A sign from above, his raging eyes burned God’s love
His lowest low, God knows, he’s only human
His cold heart slammed every dog-eared page of His almighty plan
He was all alone, no motel Bible in his hands
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John

I like the melody and production however I found the story a bit hard to follow as I’m not sure why she’s in the Motel room?
I got the impression she might have been a lady of the night or someone in a bad relationship…
My personal opinion would be to make the story a little clearer as I found myself trying to figure out what’s going on as the song was going by.
