About This Song

The hook has a double meaning. When heard the title can mean Good bye as in 'so-long' and also Good-by meaning 'fit's fine with' me. It's meant to be light hearted.

Feedback Requested

I would like to know if the double meaning is clear?

Hi Carol!  I am a member of Frettie and ST too!  I wanted to stop by, say hi and take a listen to a really cool song!  I can definitely relate to this story and that’s what it’s all about right?  You really did a great job with this and the demo is top notch!  Good luck with it:)

Thanks, Dori! That means a lot. Do you have a webpage I can go to check out your music? I don’t see any posted here on Frettie?

Hey Carol, clever hook and nice production on the demo.
the barely, ever, never, etc in the bridge was a bit much for me. But I don’t have a better suggestion….
Nice work.

Hi again Carol,
I posted a few and then took them down cause I am in the process of rewriting.  I need to have a stronger Internet presence. I have a few in the June and July Pro Feedback Forum on ST but that’s all:)

Hey, Carol, great catchy tune that stays in your head. smile
I get a sort of George Michael feel from it; very nice!

I think that the double meaning works, but my question is are they spelled correctly for the correct meaning of the word. i.e.: the first one is “goodbye me, goodbye you” and the second time it’s “good by me if it’s good by you”...

Very catchy and I concur about the George Michael similarity…

Yeah Dave it gets confusing. The listener does not have the benefit of a lyric sheet so that’s why I ask if the double meaning is clear?  On the second one it could also be interpreted as ‘It’s good by (ok with) me if it’s good-bye (so long) you’. Thanks for your input.

I saw you walking down the street with him, your arms wrapped tight around his waist
It barely brought back any feelings of our yesterdays
I waved to you across the street we stopped and said hello
If you still had feelings for me man they didn’t show

CHORUS
NOW IT’S GOOD-BYE ME, GOOD-BYE YOU
IT’S NO ONE’S FAULT YOU’VE FALLEN HARD FOR SOMEONE NEW
I DIDN’T SEE IT COMMIN BUT HEY YOU KNOW I’M TOTALLY COOL
YEAH IT’S GOOD BY ME IF IT’S GOOD BY YOU

You used to sneak up from behind, I’d feel the warmth of your breath
As you whispered in my ear I couldn’t wait for what came next
We’d make love beneath the pines an’ then cool down in the shade
So many memories of us an’ now we’re goin’ different ways

CHORUS
NOW IT’S GOOD-BYE ME, GOOD-BYE YOU
IT’S NO ONE’S FAULT YOU’VE FALLEN HARD FOR SOMEONE NEW
I DIDN’T SEE IT COMMIN BUT HEY YOU KNOW I’M TOTALLY COOL
YEAH IT’S GOOD BY ME IF IT’S GOOD BY YOU

Bridge
But now I hardly ever, never, barely, rarely, ever, really think about you
And you probly hardly ever, never, barely, rarely ever really think ‘about me too

CHORUS
That’s OK
IT’S GOOD-BYE ME, GOODBYE YOU
IT’S NO ONE’S FAULT YOU’VE FALLEN HARD FOR SOMEONE NEW
I DIDN’T SEE IT COMMIN BUT HEY YOU KNOW I’M TOTALLY COOL
YEAH IT’S GOOD BY ME IF IT’S GOOD BY YOU
UH-HUH
YEAH IT’S GOOD BY IF IT’S GOOD BY YOU
